c.a.t.a.m.o.n Dance Group is a performance organization founded in 2012 by Elad Schechter. Its main mission is to present the human body in Jerusalem’s public spaces and to create and maintain an ongoing dialogue with the Jerusalem audience in all its diversity. c.a.t.a.m.o.n aims to present this dialogue to all audiences, in Israel and around the world, thus contributing to the dialogue and communication among the different cultures of Jerusalem, as dance is an international language that can bridge cultural differences. What is your interest in having an International Fellow? c.a.t.a.m.o.n includes artists from various disciplines and holds several international exchanges. All of our projects are based on a common desire to develop, live and create art in the city of Jerusalem, using the uniqueness and the great inspiration our city provides to its inhabitants. Body and movement artists can create connections and bridges between the different cultures that live side by side in Jerusalem. An international Fellow would be an asset to that effort. What kind of international artists have been involved with c.a.t.a.m.o.n in the past? We have often hosted international choreographers and dance companies and presented them during our annual festival From Jaffa to Agripas, outdoors in the patio of the beautiful Beit Alliance/Alliance House. This is also where our studio and offices are located. In recent years we hosted Jonah Bokaer from NYC; Manuel Roque, Jason Martin and Melanie Demers from Montreal, Martin Kilvady from Slovakia and more. Who is your audience? What is your general interaction with the Jerusalem public? Depending on the event – indoors in our studios or publicly in the Machane Yehuda Market – our audience varies from dance professionals to students to enthusiasts to by-passers. What kind of space and personnel will you provide your Fellow? Our studio, located in the heart of Machane Yehuda Market, is 60 sq. meters with a high-quality dance floor plus sound and light systems. Dancers, choreographers, musicians and other artists such as graphic designers and video artists are a part of c.a.t.a.m.o.n’s large network. c.a.t.a.m.o.n. will be working with Claudia LaVista
