Israel Story is an award-winning podcast that tells extraordinary tales about ordinary Israelis. Often called “the Israeli ‘This American Life,’” we bring you quirky, unpredictable, interesting and moving stories about a place we all think we know a lot about, but really don’t. Our goals are to use the power of storytelling to expand the circle of those engaged with Israel, promote greater awareness of, and interest in, the complexities of modern Israeli society, and to combat stereotypes by showcasing the country’s rich human tapestry and telling the story of a diverse, more nuanced, Israel. In addition to pursuing these goals through our podcast, Israel Story also partners with the Jerusalem Foundation to host Sipur Yerushalmi. Sipur Yerushalmi is a storytelling evening that is held in various locations around Jerusalem and focuses on a different topic each time. The different locations, and different languages, engage communities that live in close proximity but tend to keep their distance by giving a platform to individual stories centered around universal themes.
